Summer and winter in Grosslehen
In winter, Martina lovingly decorates the farm; there’s mulled wine on the cosy terrace, and the ‘Weise Bläser’ band, led by Alex, play songs in the cottage garden.

Highland cattle graze in the pasture, whilst donkeys, Kunekune pigs and goats roam about: on our farm, we live alongside a wide variety of animal residents.

A Taste of Farm Life
From Farm to Table
Our food comes straight from the farm. Our meat products are sourced from roe deer and Highland cattle reared on our own farm.
We source our fish, eggs and cheese from local partners whom we know personally and hold in high regard. The same goes for our coffee and honey.
We grow our own vegetables and herbs right here in our kitchen garden – less than 50 metres from the kitchen. Do feel free to come and explore!
Holidays with your dog
We love dogs – our Labrador, Ludwig, is of course part of the family. That’s why we’re delighted to welcome your four-legged friends too.

When does the farm tour take place?
Every Tuesday and Saturday.
Can I visit the animals even without a guided tour?
Yes, of course, any time. You’re welcome to collect food for the animals from us at reception. However, for the animals’ own good, we sometimes have to limit this so that they stay fit and healthy.
Which animals are used in the farm-to-table approach?
At the moment, our Highland cattle and the roe deer. We realise this may seem a little strange to some people. However, we place great importance on the circular economy, meat quality and animal welfare, as our animals truly lead a happy, peaceful life right up to the end.
How long has the farm been in existence?
The farm has been in existence since 1632 – animals have been kept at the Grosslehen Hof ever since. Our hotel therefore has its roots in agriculture.
Has the farm always been above the hotel?
No: The stable used to be exactly where our restaurant stands today. And the rooms above it served as a hayloft. It was only gradually that the 4-star hotel you’ll find here today came into being.
